Raukumara Red is Prime Venison sourced from red deer that breed and live naturally amongst the native bush in the virgin Raukumara ranges. The deer roam free in their natural wild environment and are guaranteed to be free from additives and chemicals. We select only the best deer ensuring the choicest venison for our customers.

We began in May 2011, essentially, to provide quality, fresh venison, from the wild to the plate. The idea grew and took form over a number of months with Harmony foods and Neat meats becoming involved. They are now our partners and sole wholesale distributors of Raukumara Red. Our fresh venison products can also be found in supermarkets and restaurants throughout New Zealand. Four of Auckland’s finest chefs experienced deer hunting from a helicopter first hand. The chefs involved were;

Ben Bayly, Head chef at 'The Grove',

Nick Honeymann, Head Chef at 'Cru',

Julian Gill, Executive Chef at 'Eden Park',

Mark Southon, Head Chef at 'The Food Store',

Simon, William & Tim, from Neat Meats.

The challenge was to first harvest a deer then using local produce prepare a delicious venison dish.
